Integration of a hydro generator in the OceanoScientific® Kit
Pôle Mer Bretagne launched in Lower Normandy
Animated by MIRIADE (Regional Mission for Innovation and Economic Development Actions in Lower Normandy), Pôle Mer Bretagne was officially enlarged by the Lower Normandy Region on Monday, September 27th at INTECHMER (National Institute for Marine Sciences and Techniques), close to Cherbourg. This global economic competitiveness cluster is the heart of a network of large companies, SMEs, research centres and higher education institutions. Its mission is to identify and promote the emergence of innovative projects that will satisfy the demands of maritime markets.
Around a hundred industrials, scientists and officials came to follow the ceremony and see Laurent Beauvais, President of the Lower Normandy Region and Hervé Moulinier, President of Pôle Mer Bretagne, sign the convention.
This event was also a good opportunity to create a task team for the integration of the OceanoScientific® Kit’s hydro generator in the SolOceans One-design. Emission-free power supplier, the hydro generator in question is the HydroGnautiC®, developed in its origin for the Foncia prototype (winner of the 2008 Vendée Globe) by the team of Michel Desjoyeaux (Mer Agitée), in collaboration with CRISTEC (ENAG group) and optimized by Mer Forte, also controlled by Michel Desjoyeaux, with the professional competence of Denis Juhel and Dimitri Voisin.
The LUSAC (Cherbourg’s research laboratory in applied sciences) will review completely the system for production, control and storage of electric energy onboard the SolOceans One-design Class.

The partnership between SailingOne and LUSAC, based in Caen and Cherbourg, will increase the number of professionals and scientists from the Lower Normandy Region that are working on the OceanoScientific® Programme.
LUSAC was created in 1994 and is linked with Cherbourg’s school of engineering (University of Caen Lower Normandy, UCBN). It brings together about twenty research scientists from different local research departments.
